You may have noticed on your DIRECT TV recently that more and more music stars are making the jump from the sound studio to the big screen and vice versa. Here are a few of the notable reality stars to look out for – and, fair warning, they’re all Real Housewives.
Melissa: Ah, the star of Real Housewives of New Jersey (arguably), Melissa seems to think she’s got the voice to make millions. Her sweet husband built her a music studio in the basement but her prowess and ability has yet to be seen.
Countess Luann: The most prim and proper member of the Real Housewives of New York, Luann has not one but TWO singles that have touched the charts. We won’t say what we think about them but uh, better stick to social engagements, Luann.
Kim: Kim. You know her already. She’s the buxom blonde of Atlanta Housewives who started this whole trend with her single “Tardy for the Party.” We really wished she’d stopped there but no, she went on a music tour and is apparently still thinking about new singles to put out.

For those of us who went through the 90s; there was one main hairstyle that it seemed like everyone wanted. It simply was the hairstyle that no one could get enough of. Salon owners everywhere were probably tired of having to hear it over and over again, day in and day out. What was the hairstyle you ask? To put it simply it was, The Rachel.

Almost all of us know who Rachel is, the star in the hit TV series Friends, and what her hair looked like. It was a simple cut that framed the face nicely, with blond highlights over her light brown hair. The Rachel was the cut to get for years, and no matter how Rachel had her hair cut everyone wanted it. From her shoulder-length, choppy layered bob, to her long, straight layers.

It was as if people were compelled to get The Rachel. That way they would be a part of the crowd just like everyone else. Hair may not have been huge in height, but it was definitely a huge time of following the stars. What was seen in Hollywood on a celebrity was the number one hairstyle for everyone else around the globe.

Lots of bands do cover songs. Lots of bands cover old songs. Some bands do a great job and some just do not do any justice to the original. A band does not have to be a cover band to do a cover song, some bands have even made a name for themselves with a chosen cover song. When Limp Bizkit made their claim to fame it was for their cover of George Micheal’s “Faith.” The recording of cover songs never gets old, and many bands will include one on their album. They have to get permission from whoever owns the original song though.

Here are some great cover songs that have been done in the last couple of years. Before her untimely death Amy Winehouse did a cover of Leslie Gore’s “It’s My Party.” My Morning Jacket recently covered Buddy Holly’s “True Love Ways.” The rock genre often embraces the love of the cover song. One of the best, more recent, rock cover songs is Seether’s cover of George Micheal’s “Careless Whisper.” R&B artists often sample songs, making somewhat of a cover song. One of the most recent of these that is worth a listen is The Black Eyed Peas doing “The Time,” a rendition of “(I’ve Had) The Time of My Life” from the movie Dirty Dancing.

Does the question “whatever happened to T.V. theme songs” ever come to your mind? This question comes to my mind often because specific television theme songs will always be cherished treasures of my past. The tunes are embedded in my brain and are reminders of pleasant milestones throughout my childhood and adult life. Many TV theme songs bring back comforting memories when I hear them.

As a rule, most of the popular American television shows of the past were consecrated with a catchy theme song. Just a few of the original TV shows that are known for their unforgettable theme songs include ‘The Waltons,’ ‘I love Lucy,’ ‘Married with Children,’ ‘The Mary Tyler Moore Show’ ‘Little House on the Prairie’ ‘All in the Family’ ‘Lavern and Shirley’ ‘Everybody Loves Raymond’ ‘Friends’ ‘The West Wing’ and ‘Happy Days.’

The newest generations are clueless to what they are missing when it comes to great television theme songs. The current production of television has greatly changed, and the symbolic theme songs of classic American TV have been replaced with credits, words and opening scenes set to background notes of music. Only television viewers of mature generations can relate to iconic television theme songs.

Theme songs from television shows are a memorable as the show itself. The catchy tunes that some of the shows were known for became popular iconic songs that remained household staples years after their initial debut. Some of the most memorable ones are listed in this blog. They are classic tunes that have been stuck in listener’s heads for many years and show no signs of ceasing to play.

The first popular theme song that is stuck in many people’s heads is the memorable tune from “The Andy Griffith Show.” Even though it contains no lyrics, only whistling, the tune is so catchy that virtually every man, woman, and child has attempted to replicate it since the shows airing in 1960. The show may have ended in the year 1968, but, the song, composed and whistled by Earle Hagen, still can be heard on a regular basis today.

The next theme song from television that is still stuck in people’s heads is the opening song for the show “Hill Street Blues.” Even though the show dealt with serious issues facing the lives of police officers, the tune itself had a calm and pleasant sound to it. The theme song, written by Mike Post, climbed to number ten on Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. It has even been been featured at the end of the new Mario Kart game, which proves it has stood the test of time.

The theme song from “Cheers” is the next popular television tune that people still play over and over in their heads to this day. Many people share the sentiments of the lyrics in the song about sometimes wanting to get away to go to a place “where everybody knows your name.” Even though the bar called “Cheers” was the place the song was more than likely referring to, listeners mentally replace the place of escape with any place that they feel welcomes them there.

If you have seen guys with the long dark hair, tight-fitting skinny jeans, piercings, and makeup and wondered what gives? Chances are these guys are apart of a subculture called Emo. The androgeny is only a tool that helps to blur the lines between the sexes; lending to the idea that gender is a societal construct that causes division and fosters incorrect ideas about maleness and femaleness. It is similar to Goth but still widely different.

Emo (short of emotional) is in the punk and rock family in terms of music but people who claim to be emo are more interested in music that delves into the emotional state of mind and is more emotionally expressive. The music is a reflection of the lifestyle more or less. People who tout themselves as Emo are generally very emotionally candid, introverted, quiet, sensitive, and overall are very in touch with their emotions. They do not fight against it, instead Emos embrace it. Outwardly, they can be regarded as sad and depressed and many are, as suicide, death, unrequited love, and emotional instability are common themes with music, but for the most part Emos do no shy away from expressing their feelings even if it makes others uncomfortable.

Outsiders regard Emos as exaggerating the problems of life, overly-dramatic, and attention seeking.

Recently it was announced that Ford is phasing CD players out of their cars. When CDs first came out, people wondered how listening to music could get any better. Well the answer to that question came in the form of MP3s. MP3 is a file format that makes music easy to listen to and store. The music can easily be played on MP3 players and on the computer. Most of today’s smartphones are capable of playing MP3 files. MP3 files can even be written to CDs.

When you have your music stored on an MP3 device, you don’t have to worry about physical media. You can simply transfer the file via USB or some other form of connection. MP3 files can even be transferred through a wireless connection.

Yet another advantage MP3s have over CDs is that they don’t scratch and skip. Hearing your favorite song start to skip can be very annoying. CDs have to be handled with care and cleaned frequently. Even a little dirt and dust can interfere with them playing properly. You can place 1000 MP3 songs on a single USB stick and never have to worry about any of the songs sticking or having to clean the USB stick. The information party rocks on: Isostick aims to put multiple operating systems on your keyring
